Sherwood End-to-End Encryption Technology
Privacy is our top priority. Sherwood Hospital Platform uses End-to-End Encryption (E2EE) to protect patients’ personal and sensitive information so only you and those you authorise can read it.

Your private key
Yours alone — Sherwood never has access.
What is your cryptographic key?
It is your own private key to protect your sensitive data. A cryptographic key is a variable used with an algorithm to encrypt and decrypt data — a long string of letters and numbers practically impossible to guess.
Sherwood cryptographic keys consist of 45 alphanumeric characters from the base58 alphabet, randomly generated during the sign-up process.

How does a cryptographic key work?
Generating a new private key
Prior to encryption, Sherwood software generates a random 45-character alphanumeric code during the sign-up process.
Securely storing the private key
You are fully responsible for storing your private key — Sherwood will never have access to it. Users can choose custodial or non-custodial, hot or cold wallets, whatever suits their needs best.
Private key exchange
There is no need to share your private key with your workforce. Once generated, Sherwood Hospital Platform automatically uses that key for all personal and sensitive data within that hospital or facility.
Privacy by design provides the highest degree of privacy by ensuring personal data is automatically protected in any IT system or business practice. Privacy is an integral part of the system — integrated, not added on — so it becomes an essential component of the core functionality offered. Privacy is embedded into the design and architecture of Sherwood products.
